FAQs

The wait time for an appointment can vary. Usually, you can snag a spot within a few days. However, if you're after a specific time slot, it might be a bit farther out.

Don't forget to bring your photo ID, and insurance card.

The blood draw specialist (a.k.a. phlebotomist) will take a blood sample from you. Depending on the test, you might also be asked to provide a urine sample or other specimens. These samples will then be processed at the lab for testing.

Turnaround time varies depending on the test(s). Usually, you can expect your results within a few days, but some tests might take up to 7 days if a lot of samples came at the same time, or if your sample needs to be transported to a special lab.

No problem, you can cancel or change your appointment online right here, so make sure to save this link to your favorites.

Just make sure to cancel at least 24 hours in advance to avoid any charges.

Nope! You can have multiple tests during the same appointment.

Unless there’s a special circumstance, you can have your samples collected for multiple lab orders in a single visit.

Some tests might require a separate appointment due to requirements like fasting or needing a longer appointment time.

Easy peasy! If you have your appointment confirmation email, you can reschedule or cancel your appointment using the link in the email or coming back to this page.

No, your purchase will remain valid. You can reschedule an appointment at any time before it expires.

When you visit a Quest Diagnostics Patient Service Center, remember that scheduled appointments get priority. If you walk in, you might have to wait for the next available slot. Please arrive and check in 10 minutes before your appointment time. If you're more than 10 minutes late, you'll be served as a walk-in. Also, masks or face coverings are required in the center, even if you've had a COVID-19 vaccination.

Some blood tests require you to fast before having your blood drawn. If this is the case, it'll be detailed in your confirmation email.

Fasting means not eating or drinking anything except water before your lab test – usually for 8 hours or more. If you're on prescription medications, you should continue taking them during this time.

For tests that require fasting, it's best to stick to the rules for the most accurate results. If you didn't fast and still want us to perform the test, we'll note it on the report but your doctor or medical specialist will not get the quality data they need to best help you.

Sign in using the electronic kiosk or, if not available, sign the clipboard at the front desk. Be ready to show a valid photo ID. Also, have your confirmation email handy just in case to let us know your order details in case any of the systems are temporarily down.

No, you don't need an appointment to drop off a specimen. Just pop into your nearest Quest Diagnostics Patient Service Center during regular business hours.

Absolutely! If you can't make it yourself, you can have someone else drop off your specimen. Just make sure it's properly sealed and labeled.

For minors, we require a parent or legal guardian to be present during the specimen collection. If you can't be there, please make sure they're accompanied by an adult who has your written consent.

Unfortunately, our staff can't provide childcare services. If you bring your child with you, they'll need to stay with you during your appointment. It's a good idea to bring along a toy or book to keep them entertained.
